Cesare Ripa: ‘Iconologia.’ 1593

This book was first published in 1593. The first editions in which a an illustration of a printing press appeared was in 1618. A preliminary bibliography until 1800 lists 42 editions (May 2021), in which 7 different illustrations are used.
A similar overview in low resolution images is given by Sonia Maffei.
It is clear that several editions use the same gravures and woodcuts, but more detailed comparisons are necessary to investigate this.
