New Mexico History Museum

New Mexico History Museum: 113 Lincoln Avenue, Santa Fe, NM 87501.

The museum (Palace of the Governors, Palace Press) owns two wooden presses:

Press 1: a Bobcat press made in 1976 by Richard Hicks

Press 2: a press built in about 1820 by Adam Ramage.

Website: “Situated in rooms adjoining the courtyard is the Palace Press. New Mexico’s first printing press arrived at the Palace via the Santa Fe Trail in 1834. The current Press is a working exhibit of 19th and 20th century letterpress printing techniques and equipment. Founded as a “living history” exhibit in 1970, it has expanded its role to become a hub of book arts activity, and is also a highly regarded publishing concern in its own right.”
