Plate 46. The text on page 15 states: ‘Jay vueu que ceux qui Impriment en papier les Tablettes dairin, ou plusieurs choses se voyent figurees, le font avecq grandtravaill, ne faisans tousjours choses semblables; Car ilz Impriment, or mieux, et or pis, acause de linstability, des instrumentz: Jay doncq Invente cette meule plus commode et propre a cest effet qui estant mise en plain, puisse estre meue dung enfant, et si donne tousjours loeuure egual.’ The latin version of the text can be seen in this scan.

Ad Stijnman (2020) adds: ‘Numbers of pages differ a little – the seen copy in Wolfenbüttel, HAB has 19 (Latin), 18 (Italian), 18 (Spanish), 20 (French), 20 (German) pages – as may be the order of the texts in the four languages, which may be due to the binding. Some copies have only the Latin and the Italian texts. Plates can be bound in between the text or before the text.’
Undated, but estimated to be published 1615/16, the impressum ‘Venice 1595’ is an error, because on p. 2 a flood of the Tiber in Rome that happened in the year 1598 is mentioned. Catalogue of the Italian Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale: ‘Pubblicato intorno al 1615/1616, cfr. Kruno Prijatelj, Machinae novae di Fausto Veranzio, in: Il libro nel bacino adriatico, a cura di sante Graciotti, Firenze: Leo S. Olschki editore, 1992; pp. 207–213.’ And also: ‘Da escludere un’edizione del 1595, cfr. citazione inondazione del Tevere sotto Papa Clemente VIII, avvenuta nel 1598, p. 2’.
